The Quality of YOUR Relationships = The Quality of YOUR Network
No One Knows The Value of a Potential Relationship A Priori
Open Networks = Growing High-Quality Networks
Closed Networks = Stagnating Low-Quality Networks
The LinkedIn Lions' Community supports the freedom to shape the direction and growth of the LinkedIn component of their members' personal networks.
The Lions’ Lair offers LinkedIn Open Networkers (LIONs) much better functionality than our Lions’ YahooGroup alone and is now our official Membership Site.
How to Join Our "LinkedIn Open Networking" Community and Become a LION
If you don’t receive your confirmation email within a few minutes, be sure to check you Spam filters and/or Rules Based Email Folders first before re-registering or contacting us at

Step 2 - Complete Your Profile
After Logging in for the first time, be sure to go to your profile and complete as much as you can.
YOUR PROFILE is the key to maximizing the value of your Lions Membership.
Not only does it contain information relevant to contact decisions by fellow Lions but it also includes all of the Optins, Settings, and Data which drive various applications and membership listings.
BE SURE, at a minimum, to complete Your “LinkedIn TAB” of Your Profile Page.
Your LinkedIn Tab contains the Opt-ins which let Fellow Lions know whether or not you Welcome Invites to Connect from them. Also our “Safe Invite Lists” will be generated ONLY from those members who Opted-In on their LinkedIn Tab of their Profile Page.
Step 3 - Go to The FORUM
Make your first post in the Introductions Forum
Next go to “The Lions' Guide to LinkedIn” and add your favorite TIP for using LinkedIn
Click on the name of a Fellow Lion
Step 4 - Go to a Fellow Lion’s Profile Page
The names of Fellow Lions throughout The Lair are linked to their profile pages. Only logged in Lions, NOT THE PUBLIC, can view the profile pages of fellow Lions. You’ll notice that only Lions have full access to their personal menus, profiles, special applications, and to any of our Intra-Community Communications Tools.
Step 5 - Send a Private Message to a Fellow Lion
Notice that you can always send a private message to a fellow Lion through their Profile Page.
Notice you can access your INBOX both through Your Menu and Your Private Messaging Sidebar
Step 6 - Go to Downloads
Upload the latest Invite List if you want to Invite Fellow Lions to grow you LinkedIn Connectedness.
All you have to do is upload the Safe Invite List file to your Account on LinkedIn and then send Invites to Connect to your Fellow Lions. Because the Invite List contains ONLY those Lions who have Opted-In to Receive Invite from Fellow Lions, you will be “making the most” of the arbitrary "Invite Allotment" set by LinkedIn.
N.B., If you have exceeded LinkedIn's Arbitrary Invitation Limit, Fear Not — as long as you have opted-in to receive Invites from Fellow Lions, you will continue to receive Invitations to connect from new Lions. If you don't check the opt-in box in your profile, you will not receive a lot of invites from fellow Lions. It's now your choice — Choose wisely! :-)
STEP 7 – Get Familiar with -- THE LAIR TRIAD -- FIRST — before spending time with our other cool “Beta Widgets”
THE LAIR TRIAD
Our Profiling System
Our Private Messaging System
Our Forums
The Triad contains our Core Intra-Community Communications Tools. They are tightly integrated and should provide the most value for the majority of the Lions.
We are going to be in a "State of Chronic Beta" moving forward. This means Cool New Features (and/or complete distractions) should be appearing from time to time. When you see something new, check the Beta Forums, for announcement information, and then play with them a bit. Make sure you give us your feedback in the appropriate Beta Testing Forums after you get a feel for these applications.
The Lions Lair is, after all, Your LAIR, and your feedback shapes where we are heading.
Since the founding of our "LinkedIn Open Networking Community" [the LIONs], January 11, 2006, we have lobbied LinkedIn for our own official Group on LinkedIn and they have FINALLY acquiesced.
John Evans is the LinkedIn Group Manager and will send Invitations to Join our official LIONs Group on LinkedIn to all REGISTERED Lions, past and present.
As many of the founding Lions might recall, the LinkedIn LIONs was originally formed in response to LinkedIn Management setting limits on "Invitations to Connect". This seemed ludicrous to the small percentage of LinkedIn Members who "actually are networkers", not just job seekers and curious "drive by" members. As a result, "youmaysendmeinvites" YahooGroup was formed and quickly morphed into the "LinkedIn Open Networkers (LIONs)".
Our Registration System is fine except for one problem -- it won't send out Activation Emails with working Links.
We are not alone -- many other sites are having this same problem because we all use the same, otherwise quite reliable, registration component. It's normally a very well supported open-source component, but it relies on a Developer Community that got hit with a surprize platform update. So the developers are focused on all the problems that caused.
It will take a bit of time for them to get around to fixing it.
In the meantime, we'll switch to a manual Registration Approval Process.
